Social Networking — Catapult YOUR Affiliate Sales Through the Roof

Social Networking is an unassuming tool that delivers powerful results.  Myspace, Bebo, Friendster, PerfSpot and FaceBook are now household names.

When conceived they where not intended as platforms to launch marketing campaigns, they where intended to be watering holes for friends and family which is exactly what they have become, a place for the masses to flock while drifting in this online oasis.

Now the smoke has settled and people have kind of figured this stuff out and these venues have actually become valid launch pads for blasting off online ventures.

The driving force behind the potential of networks like these is simply the enormous wealth of diverse people attacking these sites with their pictures, posts and comments. Like any mass gathering of individuals you'll surly find an equally massive number of special interest groups, ranging from, sky divers to toy train collectors or possibly even women pilots.

Once you've found a group that compliments the site or blog your attempting to promote it's time to put on your marketing cap and capitalize on this opportunity. When your awareness is harvested there are easy to follow steps that must be taken to funnel qualified visitors into your site(s)

The First Step is Choosing a Profile Template

Usually these social sites have a given template for business applications. Their specifically designed to form groups and networks.

You draw attention to these networks by placing ads on host networks like facebook and inviting people to join your group. You can also send out invitations manually by inviting your friends to join… which is never a good idea!

~ The best way I've found is to purchase ad space and tag the ad as only to be shown to individuals who qualify. This method is the equivalent of placing a display ad in the classifieds of some popular niches publication.

Qualification is determined by the parameters of the users profile description, controlled in the description setup dashboard.

The Organizations May ask You Through Surveys and Profile Setups for Such General Yet Personal Information As:

  1. Age
  2. Sex
  3. Hobbies
  4. Education
  5. Financial Status
  6. Love Interest
  7. Marital Status
  8. Personality
  9. Wants!
  10. Needs!

Utilizing this info the networks are able to customize their ads and display relevant ads to each members profile page. This gives the marketer overwhelming leverage when it comes to targeting his market.

The ads are inexpensive and because of the size of social networks it's just like anything else on the net… it boils down to numbers. The number of qualified eyes peering at your ad will determine the potential number of click through's you'll receive. The number of clicks will determine the number of conversions. Your conversion rate is regulated by the quality of the content on your groups page and whether or not it can walk your subscriber to the merchant, product or ebook your trying to promote.

It's best if you treat your profile page similar to a blog, as that's kind of what it is. You need to stay abreast of the latest happenings in your field or niche and post any or preferably all topic related news and worthy events.

Usually by doing this you'll indirectly startup some kind of tweet among subscribers and when that happens, your off and running.

If you wish the group to keep its momentum thrusting forward, it's wise to create newsletters or reports then give them away for free and distribute them among your subscribers once twice or four times a month. Once you've built a subscribers list of 5,000 – 10,000 users then you should give yourself a pat on the back because you have arrived. At this point you have enough subscribers to possibly promote your other sites or blogs.

You see at this junction, given that you have 5,000 – 10,000 persons hanging on your every word… you pretty much have gained their respect as an authority………. they might even  consider jumping off a bridge if you suggest it (LOL). No seriously though guys, it's at this point you'll want to pour on the charm and start reviewing products, offering your own products if you haven't already and guiding subscribers to monetized sites that fill you pockets with suitcases full of money!

Make sure that your groups profile picture is of someone or some product that each of your subscribers will associate with their niche . No matter what the profile pic may be, make sure it is non controversial and if you plan on painting your personal picture on the page attempt to present yourself as a professional, no pics of you tossing back beer or dancing to AC-DC at your class reunion. These types of picks are better suited for personal profiles, not groups or forums.

If you're looking to promote highly niche markets like dogs, cats, birds, horses or hobbies, make sure you join the wright social network. For example Myspace may not be the best place to support a niche that caters to a market of babyboomers, like wise a babyboomer site may not work for market niches focused on Gen Xers or Gen Next.

Do yourself a favor and research the demographics of the social networks you plan on jumping into, if you don't you may not achieve your desired results. Last but not least, don't wait to long to create a business presence on social networks as these things get bigger by the second and you don't want to miss one more of those seconds as that short frame of time could cost you a subscriber.

Good Luck, and Good Hunting!
