Regarding "settling on a design for your site", the mistake I see time and again is people not realising that design in 90% usability. Any unnecessary feature you add to your site can make it harder for the user to find the information they actually are looking for.

Would recommend the book "Don't Make Me Think" for anyone designing a site.

Ready made websites are very easy to manage and generally they have an admin control panel from where you can easily modify any part you like. They are done professionally and they look great. Thanks for information. Nice sharing.

Adding content on a regular basis is very important - both to get attention from the search engines as well as from the users.

Hi Sara

Yes you are right many affiliates take no time when designing a site and only want to get the content or promotion online.

You need to have a good design which is the first impression and will help the visitor decide whether or not to stay on your site.

I think the key to a successful site is design and content. If a site is badly designed, I will normally just go elsewhere for information.
