Organic Listings Why You Need To Be In The Top Position

As an affiliate marketer the most beneficial result for you is to be placed highly in the organic listings of the search engines especially the "Big G". This is really a break down of how well your page will do depending on the rankings you receive from the search engines. Google or the Big G" is accountable for about 60% to 70% of all searches on the internet so you need to be focused here.

It is every bodies dream as a marketer and especially an affiliate marketer to be listed as the number one web site for your preferred keyword. And here's is why…

When being on the first page of any search engine results is just not good enough.

Statistics have shown that just because you have a high listing on the search engines through organic listings that you still do not receive all the traffic. You have to remember that there are Pay Per Click listings which take about 30 percent of the traffic immediately and that is usually only the top 3 paid ads achieving this depending of course on the ad title and ad relevance to the search term.

Now to break down the organic listing and I really have nothing but my own stats to work on but I have found the same across all of my websites.

The number one listing on the "Big G" and taking into account that the listing is relevant to the search term will receive between 20% and 25% of all the clicks for that search term.

Now here is where it gets interesting…

The Second listing in the organic results drops away considerably with only a 5% to 6% click thru rate.

The Third organic listing receives even less with a 4% to 5% click thru rate and the rest of the organic listing right down to position 10 seem to drop away by a percentage point the further you go down the rankings. Actually the tenth position is only receiving about 1% to 1.5% of any traffic for the relevant keyword.

And if you look even harder at the statistics you will notice something else and that is about 30% of all traffic for the specific keyword does not even click on a listing. This is usually due to the fact that none of the title text has caught their attention so they move on with a more refined search.

In conclusion what I have found overall that out of 100% of possible click through rates there will be 30% to 35% to paid advertising then about 30% to 35% organic listings and then you have those that found nothing of interest and have moved on about 30% of the time.

So how did I discover this and why did I do the research. As an affiliate marketer making money the cheapest way possible online is essential the lower the overhead the more profit right. I had noticed a huge downturn in one of my product promotions from making $500 a day down to some days nothing but usually $50 a day. i just had to find out why so I pulled all of my stats and logs and have analyzed the hell out of them and this is what I came up with. The tool I used to base the traffic on was Keyword Elite from Brad Callen and yes i understand that no one tool is completely accurate but I just needed a tool that was fast and very easy to use.
